The SILICE project is an international capacity-building project co-funded by the Erasmus+ initiative of the European Commission. It brings together 14 universities and institutions from 6 countries for a minimum of three years to develop social innovation in Israeli and Indian local communities and among entrepreneurship students.
SILICE started in March 2017, when the project coordinators from every institution and university came together in Israel at the IDC — the Interdisciplinary Centre in Herzliya. The host and leader of the project, Dr Eric Zimmerman, with Mrs Ariella Azoulay, welcomed all team members for three intense days of preliminary work.
In May 2017 the first Indian meeting of SILICE took place at Savitribai Phule Pune University, a partner of the programme. During this meeting the Indian universities, with Dr Zimmerman, Mrs Azoulay and the Edulab team, organised the work for the Indian side of the project.
Around ten teachers from India receive twelve days of training in Europe on social innovation and integrate their learning into the curriculum to impact their students. The project also funds the creation of a Social Innovation Lab to help social ventures all over India.
