Edulab was the India representative of the U.S. Cultural Immersion Institute for the English Access Microscholarship Program for teachers and students from Pakistan and India — a US State Department programme to empower youth through English and technology.
At the beginning of the programme twenty-five children from rural villages in India each received an iPad with a complimentary internet connection, and training on how to surf the web safely and on English. Then they all went for three weeks to the United States of America, where they travelled the country, visited museums, theme parks and science centres, and took classes in English.
The aim was to give them English and make them understand that knowing languages is important for their own development and for the development of their village. With the help of technology and knowledge, the twenty-five children became leaders and empowered their village and the surrounding villages.
This programme was our first major success and it confirmed our drive for education. We learned that the slightest international exposure can bring a lot of positive change in children and students. They become leaders for their families, friends and localities — actors of change.
Twenty-five students from small villages selected with the programme partners.
An iPad with internet for each student; training on safe browsing and English.
Travel across the country, museums, theme parks, science centres and English classes.
Students continue learning online and lead English and technology use in their villages.
We understand the complexity and high standards of government tenders — and go beyond the brief to maximise learning outcomes.
A written security policy for every programme: prevention, training and monitoring, with emergency contacts and trained team members.
Exposure that turns students into leaders for their families and localities.
We have delivered US, Belgian and Chinese government programmes end to end.
